Both winning initiatives aim to train and provide the necessary tools for the social development of micro-entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs. Palabra de Mujer Academy

In Peru, only 15% of women have access to university; however, 53% of Peruvian SMEs were created by women. Furthermore, our country has 36% more women entrepreneurs compared to other Latin American countries.

For this reason, Centrum PUCP and Financiera Confianza have developed Palabra de Mujer Academy. Through eight courses, 650 women were trained free of charge during 2021. Together with Financiera Confianza, this initiative provided knowledge and skills to reactivate and strengthen their businesses. They were given 18 master classes divided into 8 study modules taught by volunteer professors and administrative staff from Centrum PUCP.

Tourism Emprende Ya

The pandemic had a great impact on the tourism sector in our country, thousands of businesses were affected by the restrictions due to COVID-19. In that sense, Centrum PUCP, in alliance with Caja Cusco, carried out the programme Tourism Emprende Ya. This project seeks to provide the necessary tools for micro-entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs to reactivate their businesses.

With the collaboration of the Chamber of Commerce of Cusco and the Ana G. Méndez University of Puerto Rico, the aim was to promote responsible tourism with customers and the planet through sustainable management. A total of 2,841 people participated in the project, 263 were certified free of charge and successfully completed the 8 courses of the programme.
